Following Associate Professor Jie Cai’s paper being accepted by the top 5 journal Review of Economic Studies, Tenured Associate Professor Ninghua Du received good news about the acceptance of his 2 papers respectively by Management Science, a top journal in the economic management branch, and Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economics, an A journal in economics as listed by SUFE.
The one accepted by Management Science is titled “Prosocial Compliance in P2P Lending: A Natural Field Experiment” (coauthored with Lingfang Li, Tian Lu, and Xianghua Lu of Fudan University). It focuses on the hot issue of small and micro loans and the rising problem of P2P (Peer to Peer) lending in China in the past decade. They implement behavioral mechanisms in a natural field experiment to increase loan repayment rates on a peer-to-peer (P2P) lending website. The results show that text message reminders conveying lenders' positive expectations considerably increase the likelihood that borrowers will repay their loans, whereas reminders emphasizing the adverse consequences for those who fail to repay their loans do not. Their experiments demonstrate the potential importance of such interventions in enhancing prosocial compliance in P2P lending.
The other accepted by Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economics is titled “Cheap-Talk Evaluations in Contract Design” (coauthored with Quazi Shahriar).
