Recently, the paper titled "Measuring Discounting without Measuring Utility" co-authored by Zhenxing Huang, Assistant Professor of SOE, has been accepted by the top economics journal- The American Economic Review. Dr. Zhenxing Huang is a newly-introduced tenured track assistant professor to the SOE. He is graduated from Tinbergen Institute and his research field is Decision Theory in Behavioral Economics. The paper introduces a new method to measure the temporal discounting of money. Unlike preceding methods, their method requires neither knowledge nor measurement of utility. It is easier to implement, clearer to subjects, and requires fewer measurements than existing methods.
This is a new breakthrough for the School of Economics on the academic publications of the faculty after the publications on international top journals including Quarterly Journal of Economics, American Economic Review, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Econometrics and Journal of International Economics etc.in recent three months.
Since 2005, the faculty of the SOE have published more than 240 papers in international authoritative economics journals, including 9 on top journals including American Economic Review, Econometrica, Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economic Studies and Quarterly Journal of Economics. According to the statistics from the Tilburg University, in terms of publication quantity in the default 32 leading international economics journals, SUFE ranks 1st among all the universities in the Greater China region (including Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan), 6th in Asia, and 61st worldwide, on par with some renowned universities in the world.
