The beginning of a new academic year is always marked with the coming of fresh students ready to start a new journey of study and life. On September 15, 2010, a welcome ceremony was held for SOE's new undergraduate, graduate and PhD students of this year at the lecture hall of SUFE Administration Building to celebrate a new beginning for those promising talents of the future.
SOE Party Secretary Lin Cheng, Associate Dean Jijun Xia, Associate Dean Guan Gong, Vice Party Secretary Weidong Yang, and Heads of SOE's four departments attended the ceremony and delivered welcome speeches to this year's 168 undergraduate and 105 graduate students.
Prof. Cheng first gave a brief introduction to the history and rapid development of SOE, and extended his sincere hope for the students to be honest, creative and capable. Following his address, Prof. Xia introduced the regulations of SOE and echoed with Prof. Cheng by emphasizing honesty and integrity of the students. Welcome speeches were then given by Heads of the four Departments of Economics, Economic History, Political Economy and Quantitative Economics. The ceremony ended with the passionate speech made by the representative of fresh students Yapeng Liu, who promised that they will "try their best to live up to the expectations of the professors".
