On January 4, 2010, Prof. Marina Tse, Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education, Chief of the Western United States Office of the U.S. Department of Labor and Professor at the University of Southern California visited SUFE and met SUFE Vice President Zhongfei Zhou, SOE CPC Committee Secretary Lin Cheng, Prof. Yugui Guo, Director of IAR Center for Global Studies in Education and Prof. Wangjiang Ying, Director of SUFE Institute of Higher Education. She delivered a lecture titled "Education in the United States" at the SUFE administration building to share her views on bilingual education with scholars, faculty and students at SUFE, which also attracted many enthusiasts of this topic from other universities, colleges and institutions.
Prof. Tse has been an educator and a community activist for more than 20 years, helping numerous groups to answer their educational needs. Her speech embraced topics such as the skills to learn English, effective use of local language, American educational structure, Western educational philosophy, and application for scholarships at American universities, etc., which received favorable response and rounds of applause from the attendants.
