On September 21, 2009, Prof. Klaus F. Zimmermann, a world-renowned labor economist from the University of Bonn visited SUFE and met SUFE Vice President Zhongfei Zhou. He delivered a lecture titled "EU Labor Markets after Post-Enlargement Migration" at the seminar room of SOE building and communicated with SOE faculty members and students.
Prof. Klaus F. Zimmermann is a distinguished economist in labor economics, population economics, migration, industrial organization and econometrics and has exerted great influence on the academic advancement in these fields worldwide. Founder and Secretary of the European Society for Population Economics (ESPE), his professional career also includes Director of the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA Bonn), President of the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin, since 2000), Honorary Professor of Economics at the Free University of Berlin (since 2001), etc. He is also Chairman of the Society of the German Economic Research Institutes (ARGE) (since 2005), advisor to the President of the EU Commission (2001-2003 and since 2005), and member of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on Migration.
