On the afternoon of September 18, 2008, a welcome ceremony for the new undergraduate, graduate and PhD students of this year was held at the lecture hall of SUFE Administrative Building to celebrate a new academic beginning for those promising talents of the future.
The ceremony began with SOE Associate Dean Hu Yonggang’s warm welcome and instructive address to the fresh students. Prof. Hu gave a brief introduction to the past and present of SOE, and expressed his sincere hope that all the freshmen could become economic talents featuring a good mastery of both theory and its applications to real world in the near future.
Hu’s address was followed by SOE Party Secretary Cheng Lin’s speech on the right attitude in study as well as in life, that is, to be hard-working in whatever circumstances in order to seek self-development and self-fulfillment on and beyond the stage of university.
SOE student speaker Wang Tangli shared her experience in studying and living with her juniors, and the ceremony came to a close with freshman representative Zhang Jiayao expressing the strong determination to study hard for a bright future.
Student counsellor Sun Chuantong presided over the welcome ceremony attended also by SOE Deputy Party Secretary Yang Weidong, Associate Dean Gong Guan and faculty representative Mao Peihua.
