On the evening of September 27, a reception for foreign experts marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China was held at the Great Hall of the People. Ding Xuexiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the reception and delivered a speech. On behalf of the Chinese government and President Xi Jinping, Ding Xuexiang first extended heartfelt thanks, sincere greetings and best wishes to all foreign experts and international friends who care about, support and participate in China’s reform, opening-up and modernization drive. He noted that since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, batches of foreign experts have traveled thousands of miles to China, making indelible contributions to China’s socialist modernization drive, which the Chinese people will always remember. Ding Xuexiang stressed that China will continue to pursue a more proactive, open and effective talent policy. He expressed the hope that foreign experts will continue to care for and support China’s development, act as builders of the cause of Chinese modernity, bridges for exchanges and cooperation between China and foreign countries, and non-governmental envoys for enhancing people-to-people friendship, so as to make new and greater contributions to advancing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Huang Xiaodong, Distinguished Professor (US national) at the School of Economics, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE), together with his spouse, and Kirill Novoselov, Tenured Associate Professor (Russian national) at the School of Accountancy, were invited to travel to Beijing as part of the Shanghai delegation of foreign experts to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
On the evening of September 30, upon the invitation of the People’s Government of Shanghai Municipality, Li Longfei, Professor (US national) at the School of Economics, SUFE, together with his spouse; Huang Xiaodong, Distinguished Professor (US national), together with his spouse; Nikolai Gravin, Professor (Russian national) at the School of Information Management and Engineering; and Kirill Novoselov, Tenured Associate Professor (Russian national) at the School of Accountancy, attended the National Day Reception at the Shanghai Exhibition Center as representatives of foreign experts. They joined people from all walks of life in Shanghai to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Chen Jining, Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Mayor of Shanghai, and other municipal leaders were present at the event. Mayor Gong Zheng delivered a welcome speech. On behalf of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and the People’s Government of Shanghai Municipality, he extended festive greetings and sincere thanks to all residents of Shanghai and friends who care about and support Shanghai’s development.
The invited foreign experts from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics all expressed that it was a great honor for them to take part in the National Day events. They stand ready to contribute to promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and other countries, and offered their best wishes for the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
