Recently, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission released the list of gold award winners for the Shanghai Final of China International College Students'Innovation Competition . Following university-level selection and online expert evaluation, a total of 1,129 projects advanced to the semi-finals of the Shanghai competition, and 452 projects entered the Shanghai Final. Eventually, 129 gold-award projects were selected.
Among them, the project Walk with Light – Care Program for Migrant Children from the SOE won the Gold Award! Moving forward, the School will continue to promote the competition spirit of “Dare to Venture, Know How to Innovate”, deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, and offer students broad practical stages and platforms for self-display. It strives to cultivate more outstanding talents with innovative thinking and entrepreneurial capacity, inject new impetus into social innovation and development, and actively respond to and advance the implementation of the national innovation-driven development strategy.
Walk with Light – Care Program for Migrant Children
Project Introduction: Walk with Light: Long-term Practitioners Caring for Urban Migrant Children in China is a non-profit innovative project developed by a student team from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE). Built on 16 years of research conducted by scholars including Professor Chen Yuanyuan from the School of Economics, the project team addresses migrant children’s challenges in academic learning, mental health, family life and social integration. Centered on practical work in Shanghai, the team builds an interactive bridge between university students and migrant children and delivers diverse tangible support through multi-dimensional project-based courses, multi-channel tracking systems, as well as online and offline outreach campaigns.
The team has organized ten large-scale forums, published multiple top-journal papers and monographs, provided policy consultation for the government, and secured support from the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation. It has built multi-party collaborative efforts to continuously advance people-centered new urbanization and safeguard the future of the nation and cities.
